Vicky Grant - Economist

Vicky is an Economist at Alma with a background in socially responsible consulting. Her areas of expertise include sustainable finance, labour economics and data analysis.

Vicky first began developing hands-on experience in these fields as an analyst and later the Executive Director of a socially conscious investment fund run by students. During that time, she developed a financial literacy programme for people experiencing homelessness and trained analysts to write environmental, social and corporate governance (ESG) investment proposals.

Vicky’s other engagements before joining Alma include her work for a student-led consulting firm, providing business solutions to socially conscious organisations. Vicky has also worked with a leading private educational institution in Athens where she used her skills in Python and Excel programming to streamline workflows, among other tasks.

Vicky graduated with honours from the University of Edinburgh, earning an MA in Economics and Politics. For her dissertation, she used statistical modelling to examine the effects of new graduates entering the labour market during a recession.

In addition to her academic and professional achievements, Vicky is a seasoned paddleboarder and avid traveller. She also once posted the most-liked meme on the Edinburgh Student Confessions Facebook page - that’s a high one never forgets.
