Sergio Gamboa – Economist
Sergio is an economist with a strong background in theoretical economics as well as econometric analysis.
Prior to joining Alma, Sergio spent over a decade working in Colombia, primarily in the area of economic consulting. His work included economic assessments, impact evaluations, and cost-benefit analyses of the forestry, agricultural, and industrial sectors. He also worked for the Colombian government as an economic adviser on water and sanitation, public infrastructure in agriculture, and the implementation of the 2016 peace accord with the FARC guerilla group.
Sergio holds an MSc in Ecological Economics from the University of Leeds. In his dissertation, he examined the greenhouse gas emissions resulting from the UK’s demand for livestock and animal-based food, exploring the impact of dietary alternatives such as adopting a Mediterranean-based diet. Sergio also holds an MSc and a BSc in Economics from Javeriana University, Bogotá. Additionally, he served as a professor of Economics at the Catholic University in Colombia.
Sergio enjoys playing football and crafting elaborate beats with his drums. And when it’s time to chill, he puts something good on Netflix (no, not Whiplash).
