Sarah Neubauer - Economist

Sarah is an experienced economist with a strong background in international economics and mixed-methods research.

Prior to joining Alma, Sarah worked as Lead Economic Researcher at the British Columbia Council for International Cooperation (BCCIC), where she developed indicators and targets related to the sustainable development goals (SDGs) on poverty and inequality. Her work also included analysis of policies such as a universal basic income, and wealth transfer measures. Previously, she was an Impact Evaluation Analyst at the Pacific Community Resources Society (PCRS) and a Research Assistant at the Vancouver School of Economics, UBC.

She holds an MSc in Social Research Methods from the London School of Economics and a BA in International Economics from the University of British Columbia. For her thesis, Sarah used an econometric model to examine the causal effect of water access on female autonomy across a large sample of villages in two states in India.

In the evenings, Sarah enjoys listening to crime podcasts while cooking vegan Japanese dishes. Those shiitake mushrooms didn’t stand a chance.
