Minoritised communities bear disproportionate burdens of gambling harms. However, for specific communities within Great Britain, there is currently limited knowledge and understanding surrounding the impact and lived experience of gambling harms.
In light of this, GambleAware is commissioning an Inequalities Framework to highlight which communities and populations have higher rates of risk of gambling harms, face barriers to accessing support and treatment services, and/or experience difficulties and inequitable outcomes when accessing such services.
In this context, Alma Economics was commissioned to conduct stakeholder research to (i) establish the needs and views of key actors and stakeholders, and (ii) inform the next steps in operationalising a gambling harms Inequalities Framework within Great Britain.
We engaged 17 stakeholders with professional experience and 7 community members with lived experience through a series of focus groups and interviews. Our final report synthesised findings from these activities and outlined a set of practical recommendations for the next steps of the Inequalities Framework.
