Analysis of the Curriculum and Assessment Review’s Call for Evidence – Department for Education

The Curriculum and Assessment Review (the CAR) was set up to review the national curriculum and statutory assessment system in England. The CAR sought to identify the most significant and pressing issues facing national curriculum and assessment, considering children and young people’s education and experiences from ages 5 to 19.

To further the Review’s understanding of these issues, a Call for Evidence was launched, aiming to capture the perspectives of expert stakeholders and the wider public. The Call for Evidence was open between 25th September to 22nd November 2024 and received over 7,000 responses.

The Department for Education commissioned Alma Economics to analyse the responses to this Call for Evidence.

Prior to commencing the analysis, all responses submitted via Citizen Space were uploaded to Alma Economics’ in-house platform, Cobflow, to be thematically coded. Once responses were uploaded, a team of researchers manually reviewed and conducted thematic analysis of responses for each question. Following the manual review of responses, the remaining thematic coding of responses was conducted using Cobflow’s AI models.
